Adrian Baek
Ascend California - Congressional Debate Junior Instructor
An incoming freshman at Stanford University and graduate of Redlands High School, Adrian has been involved in congressional debate since seventh grade. He’s accumulated over 25 bids to the Tournament of Champions and placed top 10 at the National Speech and Debate Tournament 5 years in a row. Some of his proudest accomplishments include winning CHSSA state, placing 2nd at TOC, 7th at the NSDA tournament for 2 years, 2nd at Glenbrooks, championing the Berkeley, ASU, & Jack Howe Invitational, and beating Quest 1v1 in basketball. Adrian thinks too many people overcomplicate congressional debate. He believes in the power of clarity for both speaking and refutation. As a coach, Adrian wants each student to have their own unique strategy that allows them to show their natural personality and have fun simultaneously. When he isn’t competing or ordering around his Redlands novices, Adrian loves to play tennis, channel his inner Lebron James on the courts (despite being 5’6), and devour cheese. As a 3-year alumnus of Ascend, Adrian is pumped to work as a coach next summer!
