Claire Miller

Ascend California - Congressional Debate Lab Leader

Claire Miller is a freshman at UCLA studying computational biology. She competed in congressional debate during her senior year while managing to accumulate significant accomplishments highlighted by a semi final run at Harvard, despite it being her first Congressional Debate Tournament, and achieving 15th in the Senate at the 2023 NSDA Nationals. She chose to do congress because of the emphasis on unique speaking and strong and creative argumentation. Having competed as one of the highest ranked Parliamentary Debaters in California before moving to Congress, she brings a strong blend of extemporaneous and traditional debate experience that have helped her stand out from the pack as a debater and coach. Outside of debate she is passionate about her lovely friends, keeping up to date on literally any sport, and being outdoors. As a coach she values finding a speaking style that is tailored to each individual competitor while balancing solid argumentation and productive refutation. She is very excited to return to Ascend as a coach again this summer because of how truly fun it is and how much she enjoys watching debaters grow!
