COVID-19 Policies at Ascend California

Below are the COVID-19 policies that Ascend will operate under, guided by Federal, California, and host campus/community policies. All are subject to change based on data and relevant news during the pandemic. Ascend is unfortunately unable to provide refunds due to a student’s inability to attend due to contracting COVID-19 prior to camp or due to a student’s inability to participate in camp activities due to contracting COVID-19 while at camp.

Vaccination Strongly Recommended.

All students are strongly encouraged to be vaccinated against COVID-19. Ascend will require students who attest they are vaccinated to provide digital proof of vaccination (either a photograph of a vaccination card or other digital copies). Students will also need to keep a digital copy.

Pre-Arrival Testing for the Unvaccinated.

Unvaccinated students are required to take a PCR test for COVID-19 no earlier than 3 days prior to arrival on campus. This means these students should test at the earliest on July 6th. Antigen tests are acceptable, but not at-home tests.

Social Distancing.

Ascend will try to limit large gatherings on campus and will attempt to have as many events and classes outdoors. Ascend will attempt to keep students within their pods as often as possible and pods will be kept in the same room as often as possible.

Symptomatic Testing.

Students and Staff will be tested for COVID-19 if they exhibit any symptoms. Should a student test positive for COVID-19, the Ascend nurse will conduct contact tracing to the best of our abilities.

Quarantine.

Should a student contract COVID-19 while at Ascend California, the student will be quarantined until such a time that the student’s family can arrange to transport them to a non-camp location (no later than the end of Ascend California). No refunds will be provided for a student leaving camp early for any reason, including due to contracting COVID-19.
